Answer
A new pending pay starts from rostered shifts, the employee's last pay, or their standard hours (see How Does The Pays Screen Work?). A group of settings called Previous pay copy options controls exactly what carries over from the employee's last pay.
In the desktop app: go to Employees >> Pay Rates. In the online app: go to Employees >> Pay Settings >> Pay Rates.
- Start with all rates regardless of last pay — every current pay rate for the employee is listed on the new pay, whether or not it was used last time.
- Copy hours from last pay — carries the hourly rate lines over from the last pay.
- Include hourly values from last pay — also copies the hours entered against each hourly line. Untick it to carry the lines over with the hours zeroed, ready for fresh entry.
- Include non-hourly pay rates from last pay — carries over non-hourly lines, such as salary or per-unit rates.
- Include non-hourly values from last pay — also copies the amounts on those non-hourly lines; untick it to carry the lines over with zero amounts.
The options take effect the next time a pay is created or refreshed for the employee. Rostered shifts still take priority over copied hours when they exist.
