Answer
At Lightning Payroll, we understand that your business needs can change. If you need to end your annual subscription, here's how you can do so easily and efficiently.
Understanding Your Subscription
Our software is accessible through an annual subscription model. You can pay for your subscription via credit card or direct bank deposit. For our customers who choose to pay by credit card and have enabled auto-renewals in their account management area on our website, the subscription will automatically renew.
We send an email to all our users one month prior to the auto-renewal date, informing them of the upcoming renewal.
Cancelling Your Subscription
If you decide not to continue with your subscription, please note that we do not offer partial refunds. To cancel, you will need to:
- Log into your account at Account Login.
- Navigate to "Account Details" and then "Update credit card & auto renewals".
- In this section, you can disable the auto-renewals for your subscription paid via credit card.
By disabling auto-renewals, your subscription will not be automatically renewed. It will expire naturally at the end of the current subscription period.
After Your Subscription Ends
Once your subscription has ended, you will have 7 days of free read-only access to your program data. During this period, you can view and export reports and payslips for historical records. After this 7-day period, the application will require a valid subscription for further use.
If you need prolonged access to your data in a read-only state, we now offer a reduced-cost annual read-only subscription. This can be purchased at this link.
When in the read-only state, the program will still ask for valid licence information on start-up. This screen can be cancelled and skipped past during the 7-day grace period.
One final thing to keep in mind is backing up your data for record-keeping purposes (records required by ATO to be kept for 7 years). Since most users are utilising the desktop version of Lightning Payroll, this means if something happens to the computer the program is kept on, and you haven't saved your backup elsewhere, you run the risk of losing your data in its entirety. For this reason, it's a good idea to go to Tools >> Create Backup and either save the backup to any online storage you may have, or even save a copy of the backup to the computer, then email that copy to yourself and/or some other trusted person in the business. It is up to you how you store this backup, but it is highly recommended that you ensure you have a copy of the backup stored somewhere safe and accessible.
