Each Lightning Payroll subscription allows the desktop app to be active on two computers at any one time. If you need to free up a seat ÔÇö for example, to move your licence to a new machine ÔÇö you can remove it directly from within the desktop app.
Removing a Seat From the Current Computer
- Open Lightning Payroll on the computer whose seat you want to remove.
- Go to Tools >> Licence Details.
- Click the Remove System button.
- Confirm by clicking Yes when prompted.
Once confirmed, Lightning Payroll removes this computer from your subscription and restarts in read-only mode. No pay data is deleted ÔÇö the program simply locks editing until a licence is reinstalled on the machine.
What Happens Next
- The freed seat is immediately available for use on another computer.
- To reactivate the same computer later, run the Licence Assistant from the Tools menu and download your licence again.
- Your web or mobile account is not affected ÔÇö online access continues normally.
Note: The Remove System button is only available on a full paid subscription, not on a trial licence.
