Answer
Payday Super becomes mandatory from 1 July 2026. From that date, employers generally need to ensure super contributions are received by the employee's fund within 7 business days after payday. The online app supports this workflow directly from the Pays screen.
Before You Start
- Confirm each employee has a valid active superannuation fund set up under Employees >> Super >> Superannuation Fund.
- Check that APRA funds have a valid USI and member number, and that SMSFs have the correct ABN, BSB, account number and Electronic Service Address.
- If you use PayTo or PayID via Ozedi, confirm your Ozedi credentials are configured under Company >> Ozedi Superstream.
Step 1 ÔÇö Open Payday Super
- Go to the Pays screen and ensure the correct pay run is selected.
- Click the Payday Super button.

Step 2 ÔÇö Select Pays and Set the Payment Date
- Set the Payment Date. This is the date the super payment is made or scheduled. PayID payments cannot be future-dated and will be reset to today automatically.
- In the Select Employees panel, select each pay you want to include in this super batch. Pays are colour-coded to indicate issues such as no active fund, invalid fund details, or an existing deposit.
- If the Show Invalid Super Fund Information button appears, click it to review which pays cannot be processed and why, then fix the fund details or deselect those pays before continuing.
- If your company uses Ozedi PayTo or PayID and the Combine Ozedi PayTo/PayID contributions into one payment per method option appears, tick it to aggregate all Ozedi contributions into a single upload per payment method rather than one message per employee.
- Review the Total Selected panel on the right. It shows a breakdown of Super Guarantee, Sacrifice RESC, Additional RESC, Voluntary/Post-Tax, and the Total Payable. Any amounts in red (no active fund), purple (deposit already exists), or pink (invalid fund details) will be excluded from the batch.
Step 3 ÔÇö Create the Deposits
Click Create. Lightning Payroll creates a super fund deposit for each selected pay and then opens the SuperStream Contribution wizard automatically. If a PayTo agreement is inactive, a warning will appear ÔÇö log in to your Ozedi dashboard to reactivate the agreement, then try again.
Step 4 ÔÇö Send the SuperStream Messages
The SuperStream Contribution wizard walks through the following steps:
- Select deposits ÔÇö the new deposits are pre-selected.
- Message Details ÔÇö review the contribution message details and total amount.
- Validation ÔÇö Lightning Payroll checks for errors before sending.
- Remote Validation ÔÇö the messages are validated against the SuperStream network via Ozedi.
- SuperStream Summary ÔÇö choose your send action:
- Send Messages ÔÇö sends the contribution via Ozedi (PayTo or PayID). Make the matching payment from your bank immediately for PayID, or allow PayTo to debit automatically.
- Create Direct Entry Payment File ÔÇö generates an ABA/XML bank file for Direct Credit payment. Upload the file to your bank or use your bank's direct entry service.
- PayID Payment Report ÔÇö produces a report listing the PayID amounts and references to help you make the bank transfer manually.
- Need a manual SAFF file export? ÔÇö use this only when an external clearing house will handle the messaging and payment.
After sending, Lightning Payroll returns you to the Pays screen. You can review the deposit history and check SuperStream responses at any time from Super Fund Deposits >> SuperStream Mailbox.
