Answer
An employee's employment start date is on the Employment Dates tab of their record, in both the desktop and the online app. It is not on the Personal tab, which is the first tab you land on when you open an employee.
Looking up one employee
In the desktop app: go to Employees >> Details >> Employment Dates. The field is labelled Start Date.
In the online (web/mobile) app: go to Employees >> Details >> Employment Dates. The field is labelled Start Date. The termination date, if there is one, sits on the same tab.
Getting start dates for all your employees at once
Use the custom report builder rather than a standard report:
- Open Reports and choose the custom reports area, then select the Custom Employee Report type.
- Tick the Start Date column, along with any other employee details you need.
- Run the report to see every employee's start date in one list.
If the start date looks wrong
The Employment Dates tab shows the employee's current start date. If an employee was terminated and later rehired, the rehire process replaces the start date with the new one, so the original date is no longer shown in that field. You can still see the earlier dates in the Employment History list on the same tab, which records when the employee was terminated and when they were reinstated.
