Answer
Before processing Payday Super in Lightning Payroll, check that your company, fund and employee details are complete. From 1 July 2026, normal super processing should be done from Pays >> Payday Super for each completed pay run.
1. Set Up Your Super Funds
Go to Settings >> Super Fund Providers and confirm that each required fund exists in Lightning Payroll.
- For most APRA-regulated funds, add or refresh the fund using Create Super Fund (Online Search) and the correct USI.
- For SMSFs, use the SMSF/manual entry process and check the ABN, BSB, account number and Electronic Service Address.
- Confirm the payment method for each fund, such as Direct Credit (ABA/XML), PayTo, PayID or an external SAFF workflow.

2. Connect A Super Fund To Each Employee
Go to Employees >> Super >> Superannuation Fund and check each employee who will receive super.
- Add the employee chosen fund, stapled fund, or your default fund where appropriate.
- Enter the employee member number exactly as provided by the fund.
- Make sure one active fund is marked as the Primary fund for ordinary Super Guarantee.
- If salary sacrifice goes to a different fund, confirm the salary sacrifice setup points to the correct secondary fund.
3. Check Company Bank Details
Go to Company >> Bank Account and confirm the account used to pay super is recorded correctly.
- Select the correct Bank Account for Super.
- If you use Direct Credit (ABA/XML), confirm any bank-required Direct Entry or ABA User ID details.
- If you use PayTo or PayID, confirm your Ozedi setup is complete and active before relying on it for deadline-sensitive payments.
4. Run Super From The Pays Screen
After a pay run is complete, go to Pays >> Payday Super. Lightning Payroll will validate the selected pays and flag issues such as missing member numbers, no primary fund, invalid USIs, invalid ESA details or existing deposits.
