Answer
The Online Backups password is separate from your main Lightning Payroll website login. If you have forgotten it, you can request a reset code which is sent to your registered email address.
In the desktop app
- Go to Tools >> Online Backups.
- On the login screen, click Forgotten Password?.
- A reset code will be sent to your registered email address.
- Enter the reset code along with your new password and a confirmation of the new password, then click Next to save.
The new password must be at least 10 characters long and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character.
In the online (web/mobile) app
- Go to Tools >> Online Backups.
- On the login screen, click Forgot Password?.
- A reset code will be sent to your registered email address.
- Enter a New Password, Confirm Password, and the Reset Code from your email, then click Reset Password.


The new password must be at least 8 characters long and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character.
