Before you can export pay run invoices to Farm Focus, you need to authorise the connection between Lightning Payroll and your Farm Focus account. This is a one-time OAuth step. You will need the Farm Focus add-on on your subscription ÔÇö see How Do I Export Payroll Data to Farm Focus? for details on purchasing the add-on and setting up GL code mappings.
In the Desktop App
- Open a pay run and click Farm Focus Add-On (the Farm Focus button in the pay run toolbar).
- The Farm Focus wizard opens on the authentication screen. Click Connect to Farm Focus.
- Your default web browser opens the Farm Focus login page. Sign in and authorise the connection for your farm.
- Return to Lightning Payroll and click Check For Token.
- The status message updates to confirm the connection. Click Next to proceed to pay selection.
Once connected, Lightning Payroll stores the token for your company. You will not need to reconnect unless you deliberately disconnect or the token expires.
In the Online (Web/Mobile) App
- Open a pay run and select the Farm Focus export option from the pay run actions.
- The Farm Focus export wizard opens on the Login To Farm Focus To Export Pay Run Invoice screen.
- If not already connected, click Connect to Farm Focus. The app redirects to the Farm Focus login page.
- Sign in and authorise the connection in Farm Focus, then return to Lightning Payroll.
- If the connection is not detected automatically, click Check For Token.
- Once connected, a success banner displays the farm name and connection date. Select the pays to include and click Next.

Troubleshooting a Failed Connection
- Browser did not open (desktop): Check that your operating system has a default browser configured. If the Farm Focus Authentication Error dialog appears, click Connect to Farm Focus again.
- Token not found after authorising: Make sure you completed the authorisation in Farm Focus before clicking Check For Token. If your subscription credentials are missing, a warning will appear asking you to refresh your licence.
- Wrong farm connected: Click Disconnect Farm Focus and repeat the connection steps to authorise a different farm account.
- Add-on not available: The connection option only appears when the Farm Focus add-on is active on your subscription. Contact Lightning Payroll to add it.
